Required Textbooks and Equipment

All textbooks and learning material will be provided through Gaines Writing Institute at a cost of $20.00 Canadian.

  1. Students must have access to a reliable desktop or laptop computer. Although iPads are acceptable, they are less efficient in the classroom.

  2. Students must have a reliable internet connection by which classes can be delivered.

  3. Gaines Writing Institute can not be responsible for any technical problems encountered by the student’s equipment.

  4. Students must be seated at a desk or table to maintain their proper concentration on course materials. In other words, students should not be seated on couches or beds.


Academic and Classroom Policy

  1. Students must take class in their home and be supervised by a least one parent.

  2. Since Gaines Writing Institute has a serious learning environment, parent(s) and teacher must cooperate to ensure a productive and disciplined learning environment for all students. If discipline problems arise, the teacher will contact the student’s parents immediately after class and discuss the problem. If disciplinary problems continue, the student will be expelled.

  3. Students must be respectful to their teacher and classmates. If disrespectful behavior arises, the director will contact, the student’s parents immediately and discuss the matter.

  4. If students are absent from class for school activities or other important reasons, the student must attend another class during that week or month. No refund will be given for missed classes.


Refund policy

  1. Gaines Writing Institute offers a trial lesson free of charge.

  2. Fees are due on the day that the assessment examination is taken.

  3. The first month’s fees include marking the assessment examination and 3 classes.

  4. If a student withdraws at anytime during the month, the number of classes remaining in the month will be refunded to the student.

  5. If the student is absent because of illness or other school examinations or activities, the missed class must be made up by attending another during that week or month. No refunds will be given for missed classes due to illness or other school examinations or activities.

  6. If the student is expelled from class for a lack of participation which includes not turning in vocabulary, grammar or essays, his or her parents will be notified immediately. If after discussion of the matter an agreement is reached by the student’s parent(s) and the GWI director, a refund of all remaining classes for the month will be given.

  7. If the student is impolite to the teacher, or refuses to comply with proper classroom behavior, the student will be expelled with a full refund of all remaining classes for the month.
